Rescheduling Policy

We completely understand that life throws us unexpected surprises. We care about our clients, and we want you to have a great experience. We prepared this article to help you better understand some important considerations regarding rescheduling policies.

This is probably the first time you've ever planned a major event, like a wedding. We get it. It's overwhelming to coordinate dozens of vendors -- especially when you find yourself thinking about rescheduling your event.

The contract we both signed explains that the event date cannot be rescheduled. The contract also explains that the retainer or other payments cannot be transferred to a different date.

Immediately after you signed the contract, we reserved your date, secured your photographer and/or videographer, and made commitments to our employees, editors, partners, vendors and contractors. These commitments are tied to your specific date. Your photographer or videographer also reserved your date, turned away other paid work, and made a personal commitment to be available for you.

Think of it like this: we don't really sell photography services. We sell dates. We sell the peace-of-mind and legal assurance that we'll be there for you, on the date you reserved, for the price we both agreed on.

Your contract protects you in many ways.

Your contract outlines what you'll pay and when you'll receive your finished products. Even if our costs go up, we won't be able to increase your price. This is a huge protection. You'll never have to worry about inflation or rising business costs. Your prices are secure. Last year, we had to pay an additional $40,000 for cloud storage that we didn't anticipate. (We use a lot of cloud storage!) Our clients never knew about this cost. We couldn't simply raise the price for our clients because of their contracts. Even though we suddenly had to pay a lot more money to store their photos or videos, they were not affected at all.

As a company, we make commitments and investments based on wedding bookings. For example, we hire full-time employees based on the number of weddings booked at certain times of the year. We pay their salaries, health care, taxes and other costs. We also make significant financial investments in advance, based on wedding bookings. For example, we pay for secure cloud storage of photo and video material up to one year in advance based on the number of weddings we'll upload and store each month. We also enter into legal contracts with our own vendors and suppliers based upcoming bookings.

We know it's upsetting and stressful to consider rescheduling. We hope this letter helps you understand some of the reasoning.
